Preschool Storytime

Tuesday Tales

Join us for Tuesday Tales at Swanton Public Library.

Storytime for preschoolers is held on Tuesdays at 10:45 AM and includes books, crafts, fingerplays, rhymes, movement, and more.

Children age 2 and under must be accompanied by a guardian.

Siblings are welcome to attend.

Why Storytime Matters

Storytime helps young children build the early skills they need before they begin school.

During storytime, children can:

  • Hear new words and build vocabulary

  • Practice listening and following directions

  • Develop attention and memory skills

  • Strengthen social skills with other children

  • Build confidence in a group setting

  • Explore music, movement, crafts, and creativity

  • Learn that books and reading are fun

For parents and caregivers, storytime is also a chance to connect with other families, discover new books, and pick up simple ideas for reading and learning at home.

What to Expect

Each Tuesday Tales storytime may include:

  • Picture books

  • Songs and rhymes

  • Fingerplays

  • Simple crafts

  • Movement activities

  • Early literacy fun

Storytime is designed for preschoolers, but babies, toddlers, and siblings are welcome.

Storytime Kits

Swanton Public Library also offers do-it-at-home storytime kits when available. These kits may include activities, rhymes, web links, instruments, stickers, coloring pages, crafts, and a free copy of the featured book. Supplies are limited.

This month’s kit features: Apple Banana Cherry by Joy Cowley

Families can watch the read-aloud video and enjoy the included activities at home.
