Swanton Public Library Summer Reading Program: A Successful Summer of Reading, Meals & Community Support

What an incredible summer at Swanton Public Library!
Swanton Public Library Summer Reading Program Makes a Big Impact
As we look back on our Summer Reading and Lunch Programs, we want to give one more huge thank you to the businesses, organizations, churches and individuals who helped make it all possible. The generosity of our community allowed us to do so much more than provide summer programming. Together, we helped feed local kids, encouraged reading and made sure families had a little extra support throughout the summer. The Swanton Public Library Summer Reading Program brought together local families, businesses, churches and community organizations to support reading, meals and youth activities throughout Summer 2026.
More Than 600 Meals Served
Thanks to our donors and community partners, Swanton Public Library provided more than 600 meals to local youth this summer.
The impact went even further.
We were also able to:
• Send multiple bags of groceries and snacks home with children for the weekends
• Provide lunch for students attending band camp
• Feed Swanton football players and cheerleaders for a team meal
• Provide reading incentives and free food certificates to Summer Reading Program participants
• Create a welcoming place for local kids and families throughout the summer
Every donation, meal, gift certificate and volunteer effort helped make that possible.
A Special Thank You to Our Community Partners
A very special thank you goes to Swanton Schools Alumni and Friends, our top donor this year. Their tremendous support played a major role in the success of our programs, and we are incredibly grateful for their commitment to Swanton's youth.
Trinity United Methodist Church also surprised the library with a generous donation. Through collaboration with other Swanton churches, food was collected during Vacation Bible School and donated to the library to serve or send home with local youth.
The children attending VBS even decorated paper lunch bags with colorful artwork and encouraging messages. Those bags were then used to pack lunches for local kids, adding an extra special touch to the program.
Five Lakes Church and The Greens of Swanton worked together to provide a healthy catered lunch and donated 25 goodie bags.
Tony Tribble and Ballas Chevrolet provided lunch and personally helped set everything up three times throughout the summer.
Rewarding Our Summer Readers
Our community partners also helped us celebrate kids who reached their Summer Reading Program goals.
More than 100 free food coupons from Burger King and Panda Express were distributed to local youth for completing reading goals.
Through a collaboration between Tano's Pizza Swanton and the Friends of Swanton Public Library, we were also able to give 100 gift certificates for free personal pizzas to Summer Reading Program finishers. Tano's Pizza also donated pizza for two of our summer meals.
The Spot Swanton helped make finishing the program even sweeter by providing ice cream coupons for Summer Reading Program finishers.
These incentives gave our young readers another reason to celebrate everything they accomplished this summer.
Thank You, Swanton
This summer is a wonderful example of what can happen when a community comes together.
To every business, church, organization, volunteer and individual who donated food, funding, prizes, time or resources, thank you. Your support directly benefited children and families right here in our community.
And as we celebrate these organizations, we encourage our community to return that support.
Shop local. Eat local. Support local.
Our local businesses and organizations continually show up for Swanton Public Library and our community. Supporting them helps make programs and partnerships like these possible year after year.
From all of us at Swanton Public Library, thank you for helping make Summer 2026 such a success.
