June 2026 Calendar

June is packed with fun at Swanton Public Library, and this month officially kicks off the 2026 Youth Summer Reading Program: Unearth a Story. Families can look forward to reading challenges, hands-on activities, movies, crafts, STEAM programs, teen events, adult book clubs, and special community programs all month long.

Summer Reading Program Begins June 1

The Youth Summer Reading Program begins Monday, June 1, with a kickoff ice cream party from noon to 2:00 pm. All ages are invited to stop by the library, enjoy ice cream, pick up summer reading signup kits, and grab book kits.

This year’s theme, Unearth a Story, celebrates dinosaurs, fossils, underground adventures, gems, creativity, and discovery. The program includes age groups for preschoolers, kids in grades K through 5, and teens in grades 5 through 12.

Participants can earn prizes by completing a reading goal of 500 minutes. Reading logs are included in the signup kits and can also be completed online beginning June 1. Logs are due by 2:00 pm on August 6.

Youth can also complete an activity challenge. Preschoolers are encouraged to complete all ten activities, while kids and teens can complete at least ten of the fourteen activities. Everyone who finishes the reading goal or activity challenge will earn prizes and be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing.
